Help Save Our Service

TUXchange is the preloved school uniform exchange service for Newbury and Thatcham, and we have a small shop in the Kennet Centre. It was confirmed recently that plans have been approved to redevelop the Centre, and therefore we need to find new premises. The centre could potentially close at the end of Jan 2026 (this has not been confirmed), and without new premises, the service will sadly have to close.

Since launching in 2020, nearly 2,000 families have received over 10,000 items of clothing — a testament to the service’s vital role, with our customer base growing by 430%.

To continue offering the service as it is — accessible to everyone, with free exchanges or items priced between 50p and £1 — we need a space that offers a similar arrangement to the Kennet Centre: free rent and a small unit that doesn’t incur business rates. Ideally, a larger space would allow us to expand and support neighbouring areas such as Cold Ash, Hermitage, Kintbury, and Hungerford.
